Wheel Motor for Heavy Machines
Danfoss meets demands for a long machine lifetime in the toughest terrain with the new TMTHW wheel motor.

Danfoss has launched the TMTHW orbital wheel motor for heavy-duty machines. Initially designed for forestry equipment, the wheel motor offers high power density for its weight, strong bearing capability and a patented dual shaft sealing system for optimum sealing and protection against the elements.

The TMTHW wheel motor, with its 315-800 cu cm (18.5-48.82 cu in) displacement range, is the latest addition to the successful Danfoss range of orbital motors and has already undergone more than 2,000 hours of field tests in heavy-duty forestry applications. With maximum output power , outstandingly high speed and consistent 300 bar pressure drop capability across its 315-500 cu cm (18.5-30.51 cu in) displacement range, and intermittent pressure drop of up to 350 bar (5,080 psi), the wheel motor fits most medium power open and closed circuit piston pumps.

High load-bearing strength mounted on a forestry head, the lightweight design owes its impressive radial load-bearing capacity of up to 120.000 N to the advanced bearing design. This allows the motor to withstand the high shocks and jerks as forestry machines fell and de-branch. "The impact of emissions regulations has led to a growing market demand for higher operating pressures and radial load capabilities, contributing to more durable components that can extend the operating lifetime of our customers' mobile machines," says Product Marketing Manager Knud Meldgaard.

Patented dual shaft seal
Adding to the durable construction, the patented shaft sealing system includes two seals that are proven to reduce the risk of motor failure, a soft seal at the motor's front end and a hard seal between the bearings, separated by an oil-filled chamber. Through this mechanism, shaft stress is efficiently absorbed at high pressure.
