Tata Hitachi?s soil compactor, VM3, comes equipped with the latest technological features addressing the requirements of the Indian market. VM3 has the highest static linear load of 33.58 kg/cm, which is the highest in its class of compactors. Higher static linear load directly translates into a better degree of compaction. It has the largest range of amplitude with the lowest amplitude of 0.60 mm and the highest at 1.95 mm, enabling the machine perform better on both rough as well as fine work. Currently, the machine is provided with a drum drive as a standard feature, which increases the gradeability of the machine. The articulation is one of the highest with 30 degree on either side, thereby increasing the manoeuvrability of the machine. These features enable the machine to work in a variety of terrain, giving the customer a complete range of options.

The VM3 comes with highly fuel efficient four-cylinder water-cooled Tata 497 TCIC engine. This engine is fitted with Turbo Charged Inter Cooler to provide superior fuel efficiency. With majority of the owning and operating cost overheads attributed to fuel consumption, reduced fuel consumption directly brings down the cost of ownership of the machine.

The VM3 comes with a hydrostatic drive increasing machine response and fuel efficiency with reliable and proven components. The machine is provided with auto and manual work modes. In the auto mode, the machine vibrates during forward operation and remains static during the reverse operation, while the machine is at stationary. Single pilot lever operation controls both the directions of the machine, as well as vibration (toggle between auto and manual modes) providing better control of the machine.

Servicing of this soil compactor is done through existing service networks of Tata Hitachi and its over 245 dealer touch-points throughout the country. This platform provides a crucial role in catering to customers? after-sales needs. Apart from catering to the local requirement, Tata Hitachi also exports this machine to African countries. In the forefront
Tata Hitachi Construction Machinery Company (THCM), formerly known as Telcon (originally a division of Tata Motors), has been in the forefront of the construction equipment business since the early 1960s. A technical collaboration between Telco and Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM) Japan started in 1984 for the manufacture of world-class hydraulic excavators in India and subsequently the first UH 083 was launched in 1985. THCM set up its second manufacturing plant in 1998. The construction equipment business was made an independent entity in 1999 and over the years, HCM acquired stake in this entity (currently at 60 per cent, the rest being with Tata Motors). Tata and Hitachi have had a successful partnership in the construction equipment business for over 30 years now.
