JCB offers products that are robust, custom-built and highly fuel-efficient
JCB continuously invests in R&D to come up with machines that achieve optimum compaction with a minimum number of passes to reduce the overall operating cost. Moreover, at JCB, the latest equipment is designed always keeping the customer requirement and operator comfort in mind, says Amit Gossain, EVP Marketing, Business Development and Corporate Affairs, JCB India. Excerpts from the interview.

What is the overall market for soil compactors, asphalt compactors and PTRs?
In past six months, the compactor segment has seen a growth of 20 per cent in the year 2013, and given the recent reforms announced by the government, we expect this momentum to continue for the next few years.

The government had set an ambitious target of 20 km of highway per day against which so far they have been able to achieve 8 km/day. Hence, we will see a lot of work being done in a move to achieve this target. I think India still has a long way to go to meet global standards, though. The need of the hour is to ensure execution of projects. Once that takes pace, things will fall back into place very quickly and subsequently, the infrastructure sector will also see a return of growth provided there is no further delay in the execution.

Could you give us details on the technological features of the VMT 860 and the VM 115? In the compaction segment, JCB offers products that are robust, custom-built and highly fuel efficient, in the process providing the best return on investment to our customers. The VM115 compactor caters to the soil compaction needs of the sector while the VMT 860 compactor is an expert at asphalt compaction. These machines are built specially for Indian roads and are amongst the best at compaction.

The JCB VM115 comes with a dual anti-vibration isolation system which reduces the vibration, making it more comfortable for the operator to operate the machine. This machine also has three-point pre-loaded anti-vibration pads which minimise the effect of vibration.

The JCB VMT 860 road roller is designed to offer high productivity and reliability with maximum operating economy. The ideal combination of static weights, centrifugal forces and amplitudes makes this asphalt roller perfect for a wide range of both soil and asphalt applications, from rolling sub-base to finish rolling. From the safety perspective, JCB compactors come with a solid steel canopy which makes the machine more robust and minimises damage in the event of any mishap.
