LeeBoy 785 Motor Grader
LeeBoy recently launched its range of new motor graders. The models launched were the 785xl and the 985. This comes after the successful launch of the 785i motor grader in 2012. The 785i captured 6 per cent of the market share in its first year and 7 per cent in 2013.

The 785i motor graders have been successfully running across sites in the India sub-continent, the Middle-East and Africa where they have been acknowledged for their productivity and fuel efficiency.

The 785xl is an enhanced variant of the 785i. It weighs 13 tonne and is powered by a 150 hp Cummins engine. The 985, a new machine, is a 15.2 tonne machine that comes with a 173 hp Cummins engine.

Drivetrain

The drive train on all LeeBoy motor graders consists of engines from Cummins, fully automatic power-shift transmission with an electronic transmission control unit from ZF, Germany, electro hydraulic fan drive systems on a 4-section fully aluminum heat exchanger and axles from Graziano/ZF. The graders are equipped with best-in-class hydraulics, advanced electronics and superior cab controls.

Transmission system

The ZF Ergo Power 6WG 160, is the best heavy-duty, 6F/3R speed automatic power-shift transmission with an electronic control unit, with integrated torque converter,

lock-up clutch and stator freewheel as a standard feature. The automatic transmission enables the operator to focus on grading and takes care of torque requirements by shifting gears. It also optimises the fuel consumption as this is dependent on correct gear selection and minimises wheel spin-out thereby saving tyre wear.

Hydraulics

The hydraulic system comprises an axial piston pump with load independent, post compensated, proportional valve with over-centre valves on all functions. This provides exceptional responsiveness to multiple simultaneous hydraulic functions. The graders are fitted with heavy duty tandem, no-spin axle with inboard planetary reduction and tandem boxes with chain reduction and outboard brakes on all four wheels. These are maintenance free.

The aggressive rear axle weight offers very high drawbar pull and, therefore, enabling even grading and stability of the grader.

Operator comfort & service

The other aspect that LeeBoy focused on is to ensure high ergonomic comfort levels and serviceability. All LeeBoy motor graders come with spacious cabins, state-of-the-art electronics and HVAC to provide this comfort which, in turn, boosts productivity. The LeeBoy cabins are mounted on the boom which greatly improves service access. By removing a total of six bolts for the canopy and eight bolts for the fuel and hydraulic tanks, the entire driveline can be accessed for service. Implement controls are available in manual hydraulic pilot and electronic proportional.

All new LeeBoy graders are fitted with Insta-i. This is a location, vehicle health and working data monitoring system from Trimble?, USA.

LeeBoy also offers optional laser guidance systems for automatic grade and slope control.

LeeBoy offers a front scarifier, front dozer, mid-mount ripper, rear combination ripper and scarifier and 12 and 14 mouldboards as optional attachments for customers to choose from.

LeeBoy plans to add a couple of larger motor graders to the existing range of motor graders. These graders will be 18 and 22 tonne and will cater to the high productivity segment.

LeeBoys motor graders deliver power, performance and durability at the jobsite and provide a comprehensive solution to all road construction and road maintenance grading needs.
